The Favourite has been one of the most talked about films of the 2018/2019 awards season. With the high buzz for the Oscars, several movie sites are putting the film on their “Best Movies of the Year” lists. Check out what various publications are saying:

Yorgos Lanthimos has come a long way since his “Dogtooth” days, and yet nothing about his naughty surrealist style has been compromised along the way. This twisted black comedy set in the British royal court of the 18th century is a riveting showcase for the holy trifecta of Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz, and Olivia Colman in a lesbian love triangle as two women jockey for power and a third enjoys the show. It’s an actor’s showcase, but also a Lanthimos showcase, as he abandons the weight of historical accuracy and instead delivers a hilarious and strange window into desperate behavior that transcends the specificity of its period. Every laugh line of “The Favourite” lands with gusto, as does its inspired slapstick, but it’s carried along by a whiff of melancholy. Lanthimos seems to admire his deranged characters’ determination even as he sets them up for failure. In his ever-expanding universe, we’re all a bunch of rabbits hopping toward pointless destinations, comical and exasperated at the same time. Embodying this worldview better and with greater confidence than ever before, Lanthimos has crafted the ultimate indictment of our greedy, narcissistic times. The world may be falling apart, but Lanthimos at least allows us to recognize its demise as the punchline it deserves to be.

Parlor games have never been this fun. The NSFW power struggle that unfurls in the bowels of Queen Anne’s castle is equal parts farce and tragedy — a Yorgos Lanthimos movie, in other words. With volcanic performances from Olivia Colman, Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz and Nicholas Hoult, “The Favourite” satisfies our collective itch for a lesbian “All About Eve” set amid an early-1700s English court. Every word is a tart-tongued barb, and every corset merely a cover-up for the dangerous liaisons that go unmentioned in history textbooks. Of course, time will tick on, and those who hunger for aristocracy may still find themselves lacking when they achieve it. In 2018, there wasn’t anything as delicious, provocative and profound as this.

The New York Times

The twisty mischief of the plot — court intrigue in the palace of Queen Anne overlaid with sexual treachery among the her courtiers — is crisply handled, but what lands this movie on the list are its many moments of scenic and thespian audacity. Emma Stone makes rape jokes. Rachel Weisz dispatches pigeons with a front-loaded rifle. Olivia Colman complains of gout. There are bunnies, duck races and a human menagerie of fops, fools and femmes fatales. The moral is that power corrupts, and corruption is fun.

The Atlanta Film Critics Circle, has awarded its top films of the year. Their winners are listed below with The Favourite showing up, taking the top prize. “The film is defined by incredible performances and a powerful rendering of the viciousness behind class divisions,” says AFCC co-founder Felicia Feaster. “Though set in the 18th century, there is clear resonance for our current age and the often brutal circumstances for women who are powerless and lack social standing in Yorgos Lanthimos’ trenchant rendering of gender divisions and power,” says Feaster.

I wonder if the person who suggested BR would film in the UK late May-July was confused by the casting call. I think - think! - this is what they were referring to (www*projectcasting*com/casting-calls-acting-auditions/brideshead-revisited-cast/). It does say it's a casting for BR, and it does mention May-July as the filming date, but it also says it's for a two-part Sky series, which BR is not. Have two separate calls been mistakenly merged? If so, there's still hope these aren't BR's dates!

the one I looked at originally wasn't an article like that, it was like a job post on the website for the casting but I've just checked and it doesn’t come up anymore

https://www.projectcasting.com/job

scenes of joe in the billy lynn movie were shown a few times for the ang lee tribute at the baftas! 🥰

i watched a video of last night but now it's been deleted, but anyway, yeah they showed I think 3 or 4 clips of Joe as Billy Lynn during the montage which was nice! '

What do you think of each of joe’s upcoming / unreleased projects? Are you worried about any or super excited about any? What do you think?

i'm excited about all of them especially CWF! And I love that there all different, like Joe's role in each one is different from the others. I am a bit worried about Brideshead Revisited, just because it may conflict with CWF for filming, but hopefully he can still do it

I’ve seen that “last letter from your lover” will be postponed till August (if I remember correctly) in Germany at least

yeah looking like a summer release now, which is for the best! let's just hope it doesn't need to be delayed again!

I can confirm that Felicity's Graham Norton ep isn't on iPlayer right now. The most recent one is series 28, ep 23

thanks! i wonder if maybe they'll air it next week instead

This is so cute! Some fans shared their signed CDs, and they found WB's signatures and also a doodle. It seems like a door. Maybe it is "I'm leaving out the side door". They are so lucky! https://weibo.com/6491233822/Ka9KCvBlr?type=comment#_rnd1618072862921

omg i love when people find WBs

I read that they didn’t air the episode of the graham norton show yesterday because of the princes death

that's what i read too, maybe it's available on the BBC iplayer

Metal Lords Actor Isis Hainsworth Takes Major

Did Felicity go on Graham Norton?

she did but I haven't seen much about it, this Daily Mail article (x) mentions some of the stuff she talked about

Hey Tracey :) could you please create a time line with all the release dates for Joe’s projects? That would be awesome!!

Hi, I'd love to but we don't know any of the release dates ...The Souvenir Part II will come out later this year according to this article x

"The distributor is planning what it describes as an "ambitious full cinema release" for later in 2021 [in the UK]″
